So once upon a time my friend Nisa had a bad day, so I wrote her a novel. I literally sent her about a chapter a day. This fun little book became my first published novel titled Nameless: The Darkness Comes.

It’s fun, crazy, snarky, creepy, and has a healthy dose of the paranormal and hard, grueling reality. It’s my best seller, and I have two sequels mostly written for it. Luna’s past? It will hurt your heart, but she keeps trucking.

Luna Masterton sees demons.

She has been dealing with the demonic all her life, so when her brother gets tangled up with a demon named Sparkles, ‘Luna the Lunatic’ rolls in on her motorcycle to save the day.

Armed with the ability to harm demons, her scathing sarcasm, and a hefty chip on her shoulder, Luna gathers the most unusual of allies, teaming up with a green-eyed heroin addict and a snarky demon ‘of some import.’

After all, outcasts of a feather should stick together…even until the end.

Nameless will be available for free ebook download from June 14-16! Please pick it up and see what you think. Enjoy!

WIP Wednesday

WIP_Wednesday

Working hard! This week I turned in two short stories. They both need polished, but we’ll see what the respective editors have to say. It was good to see forward movement on them.

My focus this week is staring down the very Mouth of Hell in one novella, with a poor sweet boy that keeps getting more and more thrown at him. It sucks to be born nearly divine.

I’m waiting to hear on the status of one story, which may or may not fit the editor’s bill. It’s a beautiful, sad thing, and I’m quite proud of it.

Also, Crystal Lake and I have set a tentative time to publish the sequel to Nameless next year. I’m very excited to do so! More on that as it’s confirmed.

Meanwhile, I was talking to an old friend about my very first novel that I ever wrote. I also wrote a sequel to it, both which have never seen the light of day. I’m thinking of revising them, especially because they feature my favorite character ever, Ray the Vampire. He has his own short story, here. That story was one of my very first sales! ❤

That’s what I’m up to! What are you working on?

I Signed A Five Book Deal!

I can’t tell you how excited I am!

I have officially joined Crystal Lake Publishing as their newest author. They have agreed to republish my books Nameless: The Darkness Comes, Apocalyptic Montessa and Nuclear Lulu: A Tale of Atomic Love, and Pretty Little Dead Girls: A Novel of Murder and Whimsy.

It was a very scary transition for me, and took courage to pull my books from my last publisher, but I feel this is the right decision for me.

Nameless, Apocalyptic Montessa, and Pretty Little Dead Girls will be re-released in both print and ebook editions this November. I can’t wait!

As some of you know, Nameless is Book one of THE BONE ANGEL trilogy. Crystal Lake has also agreed to publish Book two and three of the series. Isn’t that amazing? I signed a five book deal, and it feels pretty darn good.

Dreams Come True: Barnes and Noble and the Radio

So something happened yesterday that was a dream come true for me.

When I was a little girl, being a writer meant walking into a book store and seeing my work in there. Ebooks didn’t exist. The Internet wasn’t anything I had ever heard of. Writers wrote and then magical unicorns named Stabby took these manuscripts to Editorial Gods, who then breathed fairy dust and fire on them. This turned the manuscripts into Books, and Books (always spelled with a capital B, of course) then lived on the shelves of real live bookstores.

Being a writer meant that I’d sign in a brick and mortar store, back before stores were called brick and mortar stores. They were just called “stores”, and they were awesome.

Publishing has changed so much in the last five years alone, let alone from when I was a little dewy-eyed girl. So much is done digitally. My book tour is virtual. I’m teaching online at a conference this month. I was on a radio show in Ireland last week, and not only did I not leave the house, but I had a cold so I was curled up in bed with pillows and blankets and did the whole thing through Skype.

Pretty cool.

But yesterday I met with two of my friends, Erica Kiefer and Sally Johnson, and we signed books at Barnes and Noble. We had a wonderful time! I was amazed at the turnout, both from friends (thank you so much for coming!) and from people who just happened to wander by.

My friend Terry brought by some of her wonderful goodies that she bottles, as well as a Coke Zero. Thank you, Terry! I can’t wait to try them!

It was great to sell some books and talk with people who have read my stuff. It was hilarious to say, “That’s a book about serial killers in love” about Apocalytpic Montessa and Nuclear Lulu: A Tale of Atomic Love and watch somebody put it right into their shopping basket. But more than anything, it was amazing to sit there with friends and fellow writers and live out a personal dream of mine. What a pleasure.

Also, I’m on the Radio of Horror tonight! It starts around midnight Eastern, and you can find the announcing link here and the radio link is here.

Yay! The Nameless promotion has been so fun! My head is still spinning. What a joy! What happiness. 🙂

Chuck Wendig, Marmalade, and Secret Cookies

I read Chuck’s books and blog all of the time, so it was really an honor to crash his blog. Swing by while I share Five Things I Learned While Writing Nameless: The Darkness Comes, including an orange marmalade recipe.

Also, Erica Kiefer and I will be signing our books this Saturday at the Rainbow Promenade Barnes and Noble on Rainbow and Lake Mead. The signing begins at 1:00 pm, so stop by if you’re in the area! If you read this, be sure to ask me about the triple chocolate chip cookies. I’ll have a candy bowl for the general public, but I promised the girls I’d bring some cookies. They’ll be hidden away, if you’d like one.

Shhhh. Secret cookies.
