“Mooooooo-ooooom, I want a treat but we don’t have anything.” Or “Let’s bake a pie, but that will take a million years!” Or “It’s too hot to have the oven on for very long, but piiiiiiiie.”

I have it covered. This is a go-to treat that whips up quickly, is super easy, and still manages to taste decadent. Better yet, it’s something that little hands can do as well. Enjoy Miss Murder’s Easy Fruit Bites.

Ingredients

Two cans Pillsbury crescent rolls

One 21 ounce can of fruit pie filling

One cup of powdered sugar

Two teaspoons of milk or water

Cinnamon and sugar

Step 1: Grease a muffin pan. Lay the Pillsbury crescent dough flat in the pan. (Usually I go for generic stuff, but every generic brand I tried broke. Pillsbury was the only one that worked for me.) Spoon in about two tablespoons of pie filling. I used peach.

Step 2: Fold up the crescent rolls and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar to taste.

Step 3: Bake in a preheated 375 oven for 13-15 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown. Remove and place on a cooling rack.

Step 4: After they cool, mix powdered sugar and milk to form a glaze. Drizzle it over the fruit bites, let set, and then enjoy!

Pizza in a Pinch: A Miss Murder Cheat

So it was 108 degrees, I was super exhausted, and my favorite pizza place was having phone problems.

I know. First world problems. I realize I’m blessed to have so little to worry about on some days.

So I made pizza. Ish. Quickly, easily, and cheaply.

Step 1. Assemble your motley crew of ingredients. I had cheese sticks, pepperoni, and egg roll wrappers.

image1(9)Step 2. Line the pepperoni and cheese sticks up at a slant. Fold the corners in.

image3Step 3. Roll those babies up! Use a dab of water to keep the egg roll closed. It will stick to itself if moistened. Line those babies up like little soldiers.

image4Step 4. Cook those babies!  You can bake them, and normally I’d recommend that. Preheat your oven to 425 degrees, and spray the cookie sheet and egg rolls with cooking spray. Bake for 10-15 minutes, depending on how done you like the wrappers to be. But it was far too hot to turn on the oven. I think the house would have exploded if I tried. So I fried mine in olive oil for about a minute and a half on each side.

image5Step 5. Nom nom nom! Dip the in some warm tomato sauce and you have a delicious, easy little treat that really hits the spot. The recipe is also exceptionally kid-friendly as long as an adult does the frying. You can do the same things with won ton wrappers, but it’s trickier. Egg rolls are the way to go for this one.

Enjoy!
